The Kurt-Weill-Gesellschaft E.V., founded in 1993, has made it its mission "to preserve the memory of Kurt Weill in his birthplace in every appropriate way". In recent years, it has developed into an International Association, which now has members from four continents, including eminent scientists, artists, politicians and experts from the business world.
The Kurt-Weill-Gesellschaft E. V. runs the Kurt Weill center and organizes the annual Kurt Weill festival Dessau, which has developed into a nationwide acclaimed festival of classical modern music. In the scientific field, the society contributes to international Weill research with symposia, lectures and its own series of papers. The seat of the company is the former Meisterhaus Feininger and today's Kurt Weill center.
The Kurt Weill Festival is an international music festival held annually since 1993 with more than 50 events, at 21 venues, in 4 cities.
It has set itself the task of cultivating the musical legacy of composer Kurt Weill (*1900 in Dessau † 1950 in New York) and sets standards in the lively cultivation of the cultural wealth of Classical Modernism, for which Kurt Weill stands just as much as his native city of Dessau-Roßlau.
Museum, archive, library and media library in one: since 1993, we have maintained the legacy of the composer at the Kurt Weill Zentrum in Dessau-Roßlau, who was born here, and made it accessible to Europe.
The Presidium of Kurt-Weill-Gesellschaft e.V. is elected every three years by the members of the Association. The members of this committee represent the association and are its honorary management and control body.
